“Exhibhition can encourage students to be inquisitive and think analytically”
Philately and numismatics association members had a great opportunity to visit the exhibhition of “ELIXIR’24” at St. Joseph’s University at Lalbagh Road, Bengaluru-560027, On 19/08/2024.
Students had engaged in hands on activities, enhancing their practical skills. The department of philatelists and numismatics gave the students evidence of reconstructing the chronology, political, economic aspects of ancient India and it made the rarity in geography, history, culture and art. But they also experienced diverse cultures, different dynasties, civilizations, which made them to broadening their global perspectives from the department of history. It helped students to appreciate and develop a more inclusive worldview by a keen observant into the department of business studies and related to economic department students were able to understand the present union budget of India. The department of political science gave the students a clear demonstration of the present government by a puppet show, and India map model with states party symbols even more added to appreciate.
However, Elixir ‘24 exhibhition created among the students with a multifaceted, encompassing everything from exposure to new ideas and technology to personal development and networking.
On 21st September 2024, We visited the General Post Office located at Raj Bhavan Road,Ambedkar Veedhi,Bengaluru,Karnataka:560001.We began the tour with a brief introduction to the history and significance of the post office. The purpose of the visit was to understand the operations and services provided by the post office. The visit was co-ordinated with Mr.Murali and Mr.Jayashankar, who guided students through the various departments.
Students were able to have hands on experiencs it was divided into several sections, each dedicated to different services such as letter sorting, parcel dispatch, and customer service. The building is equipped with modern technology to ensure efficient handling of postal services.Students actively took part in mutual communication and interactions with heads of department.
Students appreciated the primary function of the General Post Office to manage the collection, sorting, and delivery of mail and parcels. It also offers additional services such as money orders, savings accounts, and bill payments. Students were relating the facts of the post office,plays a crucial role in connecting people and businesses across the region.

Introduction:
The inter-school Philately exam was conducted to foster interest in philately among students and encourage them to learn about the history, culture, and significance of stamps.
A total of 440 students from various schools participated in the exam.
The exam consisted of 50 MCQ questions, covering various aspects of philately, including:
- History of stamps
- Stamp design and collection
- Postal history
- Thematic Philately
The exam revealed a significant interest in philately among students. Participants demonstrated a good understanding of philately concepts.
The inter-school Philately exam was a success, promoting awareness and enthusiasm for philately among students. Most importantly students who were eligible for avail scholarship from Deen Dayal Sparsh Yojana Scholarship.
