Eco Initiative

Students visited the Flower Show at Cubbon Park to appreciate nature's beauty and learn about various plant species. They explored creatively arranged floral exhibits and rare flowers displayed in thematic setups. NCC flying and firing

The NCC flying and firing training provided cadets with valuable hands-on exposure. Cadets learned essential aviation skills, safety procedures, and basic flying techniques. They also received training in firing practice, weapon handling, and marksmanship. The sessions helped students build confidence and discipline. The training concluded successfully, enriching cadets with practical knowledge.

Health checkup

A comprehensive medical health check-up was conducted for the students by the BBMP RBSK East A team. The programme also included haemoglobin testing under the AMPK initiative. Students benefited from timely health assessments aimed at ensuring their overall well-being. The drive emphasized the importance of preventive healthcare for young learners.

Math exam

The Math Olympiad saw enthusiastic participation from students across various classes. The exam was conducted smoothly under the guidance of the Math Club. Students demonstrated keen interest in problem solving and logical reasoning. The event aimed to foster analytical skills and academic curiosity. All participants were appreciated for their sincere efforts.

One Day tour to Wonderla

The students of Classes 8 and 9 enjoyed a thrilling picnic to Wonderla Amusement Park. The day was filled with excitement as students enjoyed various rides and games. They followed all safety instructions responsibly and ensured smooth participation. Teachers and PTA members provided excellent support throughout the trip. It was a memorable and refreshing experience for everyone.

Three days tour to Coorg

The school organised a three-day educational and recreational trip to Coorg for X STD students. They visited several scenic and cultural locations, including the Golden Temple, Abbey Falls, and Talacauvery. Students enjoyed nature-based activities, explored local biodiversity, and learned about regional traditions. The tour strengthened camaraderie and provided valuable exposure beyond the classroom.

Children’s Day celebration

Children’s Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm, featuring a meaningful programme for the students. Teachers opened the event with prayers, followed by tributes to Jawaharlal Nehru and reflections on his love for children. Special cultural performances by teachers delighted the students and added joy to the occasion. The celebration concluded with an inspiring message from the Headmaster and distribution of sweets.

Interact club week

The Interact Club Week was celebrated with the theme 'Be the Voice'. Students actively participated by contributing old newspapers, books, and voluntary donations. Daily assemblies and quizzes promoted values and awareness among students. The response from all classes was highly encouraging and generous. The collected funds will support nearly 300 orphan children this year.

Integrity Club inaugural

The Integrity Club was launched to instill strong moral values among students and promote the importance of ethical conduct. Speakers highlighted the impact of corruption on society and encouraged students to uphold honesty in everyday life. Students enthusiastically joined the club, committing to carry its mission forward. The initiative aims to empower young minds to become responsible citizens who value integrity.

Balamela

As part of Bala Mela, the school conducted a stationery collection drive to support underprivileged children. Students across classes participated actively, with outstanding contributions recognised during the event. Sports day

The Annual Athletic Meet showcased the vibrant sportsmanship of our students. The event began with a grand inaugural ceremony graced by Mr. K.M.Somaiah, Alumnus and International Hockey Player. Students participated enthusiastically in various competitions and demonstrated excellent discipline. The closing ceremony featured captivating displays by different grade levels. Mrs. Janet Jacintha Fernandes, a retired staff member, served as the chief guest, while alumnus Mr. Joshua Simon was the guest of honor. Birthday celebration of Mrs Savitha, vice principal of SJIHS

The school celebrated Vice Principal Mrs. Savitha’s birthday with a heartfelt assembly attended by students, teachers, and staff. The event included the school anthem, speeches, prayers, and the presentation of gifts and cards, followed by a joyful cake-cutting ceremony. The District Interact Induction Ceremony

The District Interact Induction and Installation ceremony was held in the school of Shanthiniketan at BTM layout, where new members were inducted and office bearers were installed for the RY- 25/26. We are proud that Timofel Mario was appointed as the District Interact Treasurer and Mohammad Saad as the Club Service Director, showcasing our school's leadership and dedication in the Interact movement.

End Polio Now Awareness Program

Our school took part in the “End Polio Now” event, an initiative aimed at creating awareness about eradicating polio. The session included talks on vaccination drives and rallies, highlighting the efforts of Rotary and Interact clubs in achieving a polio-free world. Timofel Mario and Mohammad Saad represented St. Joseph's Indian High School and actively participated in the event and its activities. "Pick and Speak” event conducted by the General Post Office

Students from classes 8, 9, and 10 actively participated in the “Pick and Speak” event on the theme “Role of Social Media’s Transparency.” The competition aimed to enhance public speaking and communication skills among students. Participants confidently spoke on randomly selected topics, showcasing their clarity of thought and expression. Prerana 2025, the school’s grand intra-mural event themed “Rhapsody,” was celebrated with great enthusiasm, showcasing the rhythm of talent, teamwork and togetherness. The event was inaugurated on 18th October with a prayer song by the school choir, followed by the lighting of the lamp, the Principal’s address and the formal declaration of Prerana 2025 open. Career Guidance Programme

The session titled “Education vs Qualification” was conducted by Mr. John Jacob, Secretary of SJIIAA, to guide students on personal growth and career choices. He emphasized the importance of developing positive habits, mental and physical balance and resilience while providing insights into various career options after Class X across different fields. The interactive session concluded with a Q&A and vote of thanks, leaving students inspired and better informed about their future goals and educational paths.

St. Joseph's Boys' High School Model United Nations

The 13th edition of SJBHSMUN 2025 brought together students from various schools to discuss global and local governance issues. This year’s conference focused on topics such as local municipal bodies, the Greater Bengaluru Authority and urban development through the Karnataka Legislative Assembly (KLA) committee. Class 9 students — Meghana, Abhiksha, Bharat, Ganganna, Sagar, Suraj Nayak, Charan Kumar, Sharath, Shashank, and Syed Naqueebuddin participated as KLA delegates, engaging in discussions on the Greater Bengaluru Bill and its impact on governance and city planning.

Journey to Wellbeing: For Every Teen

Our school in collaboration with the St. Joseph’s University Counselling Department, organized “Journey to Wellbeing: For Every Teen” to mark World Mental Health Day. The event featured insightful sessions by the SJU Counselling team on mental health, stress management, digital safety and relationships. Coordinated by Ms. Nirma D’Souza, the programme concluded with a vote of thanks and inspired students to prioritize their emotional and mental wellbeing.

Inside out part-1 & part- 2 movie screening on educational awareness

As part of World Mental Health Awareness Week, a special screening of Inside Out Parts 1 and 2 was organized for 8th and 9th standard students by Ms. Nirma D’Souza, the school counsellor. The sessions included interactive activities and discussions that helped students explore, express and relate their emotions to the movie characters. Students participated enthusiastically, gaining a deeper understanding of emotional awareness, empathy and the role of emotions in personal growth and healthy relationships.

Trekking Expedition by NCC Navy Students

The NCC Naval Wing cadets of our school participated in a 12 km trekking expedition from Khyatasandra to Siddaganga Cross, Tumakuru. The trek, joined by PTA members and parents, aimed to promote physical fitness, discipline, environmental awareness and team spirit. Along the scenic route, cadets learned about the cultural significance of the region while enjoying a safe and enriching outdoor experience. The event concluded successfully, fostering a sense of achievement and unity among participants, and reinforcing the school’s commitment to holistic student development.

Visit to Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum

The Grade 8 students of our school visited the Museum as part of an educational field trip. The visit provided hands-on learning through interactive exhibits in areas like engines, space, biotechnology, and fun science. Students showed great enthusiasm, especially during live demonstrations, which deepened their interest in science and technology. Overall, the trip was a successful and enriching experience that combined education with exploration.

Girls’ Holistic Needs Survey

The counselling department of our school conducted a Girls’ Holistic Needs Survey under the guidance of Ms. Nirma D’Souza. Fifteen students from class 8, 9 and 10 shared their experiences regarding emotional, social and academic well-being. The survey revealed the need for emotional support, mental health awareness and stress management strategies, recommending regular counselling, peer groups and self care workshops for overall growth.

Farewell to B.Ed interns

The Principal and the staff expressed heartfelt gratitude to the B.Ed. interns for their 4 months of dedicated service. During their time at the school, the interns actively contributed to the academic environment and student learning. Their efforts reflected commitment, enthusiasm and a growing understanding of classroom dynamics. The internship provided them with valuable hands-on experience, supporting their overall professional development in curriculum and teaching.

NCC Air Wing Annual Training Camp

Our school’s young cadets participated in the Annual Training Camp of the Air Wing held at E and ITI Airforce Station, Jalahalli, Bangalore. The camp focused on developing physical fitness, discipline, leadership, and specialized skills such as first aid and emergency response. Cadets engaged in the morning drills, obstacle courses, military training and team-building activities, gaining valuable experience and camaraderie. Overall, the camp greatly contributed to the cadets' growth, confidence, and sense of responsibility.

Teachers’ day celebration

On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, a special program was organized to honour the dedication and contributions of the teachers. Both the students and the PTA rose to the occasion, delighting the staff with splendid programmes that reflected admiration and gratitude. Stepping up with a creative twist, the PTA made history by hosting a two-hour event filled with laughter, interactive games, and moments of genuine relaxation—an experience that lifted everyone’s spirits and fostered deeper bonds in the school community.

Eco Week

The ECO CLUB observed Eco Week with great enthusiasm. The main objective was to create awareness about the importance of protecting nature and to encourage eco-friendly practices in our daily lives. Each day began with a special assembly focusing on a unique theme related to nature. Prayers, thoughts for the day, and inspiring speeches highlighted the urgent need to save our environment. The students also spread awareness through a play on the theme 'Save Nature'.

A session on understanding yourself

The Interact Club organized a two-day event on addiction awareness, featuring Mr. John Jacob's talk. The event was held on August 25 for 8th and 9th graders and August 26th for 10th graders. Mr. Jacob discussed challenges faced by teenagers, internet safety and navigating addictions. Students actively participated asking questions and receiving thoughtful advice. The session helped students understand how to face challenges and overcome addiction.

Bharath Scouts Training Camp

The program was inaugurated by our school's Headmaster, Fr Cyril Menezes. The scout master, Mr. Mohan Kumar, a resource person, led the training camp. Our vice principal, Mrs Savitha addressed the children, stating that 'Scout' is a symbol of service and discipline and the reward of service is service itself, wishing them well for the training camp. Mr. Mohan Kumar comprehensively and practically taught the subjects related to Scout history. The camp was well organized by the Scouts master Mr. Eranna.

A survey on ‘Understanding Yourself’

The purpose of this survey was to provide students with a framework for self-reflection and to better understand their health and wellness needs. The survey's highlight was the feedback from the students, which emphasized a deep desire for comprehensive information on personal well-being. The information we got from this survey was used to develop workshops and programs tailored to the specific needs of the students.

Interact club installation

The event was honored by the presence of Bangalore Rotary members. 15 dedicated members were formally installed and entrusted with their new responsibilities for the year 2025-26. The members of the Rotary Bangalore Orchards commended the new team for their commitment and encouraged them to embody the spirit of "Service Above Self." They emphasized the importance of teamwork and shared how the Interact Club must serve.

Fire fighting training program

A Fire Fighting Training Program was held at SJIPUC Board Room where the participants learnt about the fire safety measures, types of fires and disaster stages. The program included a demonstration session on using fire safety equipment and extinguishers, providing a hands-on experience. The experts shared the real-life experiences, emphasizing preparedness and emergency response. The training concluded with the staff sharing their learning experiences and our Principal highlighting the importance of fire safety awareness.

Independence Day

The 79th Independence Day was celebrated at our school with the chief guest, Major Dr. Sathyanarayan S, an alumnus, who unfurled the National Flag and delivered an inspiring speech. Students participated in a march past, patriotic dances and other activities. The Rector of the institution Rev. Fr. Joseph D’Souza SJ spoke on the occasion and inspired the students and the guests. The celebration was marked with pride, patriotism, and motivation.

Quiz competition on St. Ignatius of Loyola

The CLC Club organized a quiz competition on the life of St. Ignatius of Loyola for its members on August 1, 2025. The quiz covered the life of Ignatius as well as the history of the Society of Jesus. Fr. Cyril Castelino and Ms. Priya hosted the event. The competition was inaugurated by Mrs. Savitha, the Vice-Principal. Prizes were awarded to the winners.

NCC Naval Wing Annual Training Camp

Cadets from our school attended a 10-day Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC) at Air Force Station in Bengaluru. The camp included physical training, theoretical instruction, and culturally engaging activities to nurture discipline, leadership, and camaraderie. Philately & Numismatics Exhibition

The event aimed to promote philately, encourage new collectors, and provide a platform for enthusiasts to share their passion. “FILATELIA 2025” Which was conducted based on Showcase of Postages and Coins, with the theme “Stamps of Mahatma Gandhi, Heritage of India, Art & Architecture & Armed Forces”. Mr.Murali (Stamp Collector) and Mr.Varaprasad (SEZ Authorised Officer) were the organizers from postal department and presented the stamps,currencies etc. The event attracted more than 300 visitors, including students, collectors, and philately enthusiasts.

Hindustan Scouts and Guides Camp

The camp successfully imparted valuable skills, promoting teamwork, leadership, and self-reliance among participants. The activities conducted included training in marksmanship, basic survival skills, and first aid, as well as introducing traditional martial arts and teaching practical skills like knot-tying and radio communication. The scouts learned various skills such as rifle shooting, fire lighting for cooking, and HAM communication. These activities aimed to develop the scouts' physical, mental, and technical abilities through hands-on training and education.

School Parliamentary election

The election to the school parliament was successfully conducted in different phases.The Notification of election was issued by the chief election commissioner on 14th June. Six candidates were finalised and they were allotted numbers and symbol. The candidates campaigned in the school campus with the true democratic spirit. International Yoga Day

Dr.Anil Fernandes,the yoga instructor emphasized the importance of yoga in promoting physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. He led the students through a comprehensive session. The yoga module included warm-up exercises, basic asanas, pranayama (breathing techniques), and a short session on meditation and mindfulness. Mr. Jai Jagadish led an engaging yoga session for Air Wing cadets from our school. Students from all the participating wings performed the asanas with enthusiasm and discipline.

Reclaim Constitution

The Reclaim Constitution team led by Mr. Vinay Kumar had organised an awareness program about the preamble of the Indian constitution in our school. The program was innovative, thought provoking and useful too. The program included video presentation, display and preamble printing as well as Bharathanatya in highlighting the importance of brotherhood and solidarity. Interact Summit

Interact district 3191 organized the first ever inter school annual district interact summit called "Darpana". This event focused on celebrating the service, leadership and collaboration of various interact clubs of various school's in district 3191. Student Retreat and Mass

A spiritual retreat for all Catholic Students was led by Fr Praveen Martis SJ, Br Santhosh SJ, and Br Larren Joy Menezes SJ. The retreat provided participants with an enriching experience of reflection, prayer, and spiritual growth. The Mass was concelebrated by Rev Fr Cyril Castelino, SJ and Rev Fr Praveen Martis, SJ. All the students received a special blessing during the Mass, praying for wisdom, strength, and success in the academic year ahead.

Students Orientation

The resource people for the orientation were Jesuit Scholastics Br Santhosh Kumar SJ and Br Larren SJ, who engaged the students through interactive sessions. The days were filled with enriching activities including: Group sharing sessions, Action songs, Input sessions focused on value-based learning and emotional development. The programme concluded with a feedback and evaluation session, allowing students to share their learning and overall experience.

Parents Orientation

The student counsellor Mrs Subhashini delivered a session emphasizing the importance of understanding, patience, and communication in parenting teens. Ms Nirma stressed the vital role of parental support in nurturing a balanced and healthy adolescent life.The session successfully reinforced the shared responsibility of parents and educators in guiding children through adolescence.

World No Tobacco Day Rally

NCC Navy Cadets of St. Joseph’s Indian High School organized an awareness rally to highlight the harmful effects of tobacco consumption and promote a healthy, tobacco-free lifestyle among the public. Cadets also raised slogans, engaging the public and encouraging them to quit tobacco use. The rally was a resounding success, serving as a powerful reminder of the risks of tobacco and the urgent need for collective action to eliminate its use.

The Mr. Janakiraman & Mrs. Ekanandan Scholarship Distribution Ceremony was held on February 5, 2025, celebrating academic excellence. 

Chief Guest Mr. Janakiraman, the alumnus, delivered an inspiring address, and Fr. Principal emphasized hard work and perseverance. Scholarships were distributed under the guidance of Mrs. Monica, Mrs. Sujatha, and Mrs. Rashmi.

Gym Inauguration

St. Joseph’s Indian High School, in collaboration with the Alumni Association, inaugurated a new gymnasium on January 26. St. Joseph’s Indian High School celebrated India’s 76th Republic Day on January 26, 2025, with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit.

The event began with the flag hoisting ceremony, where the school principal and the chief guest, Mr. Raji Koshy, Alumnus, unfurled the national flag as the school band played the national anthem. This was followed by a welcome speech, prayer, and a message on the significance of Republic Day.

National Voters' Day Celebration

St. Joseph’s Indian High School celebrated National Voters' Day with great enthusiasm to educate students on the importance of voting, democracy, and civic responsibility. A special assembly featured a prayer, a quote, a speech, and insights on democracy and voting.

A kite-making competition was held, where students designed posters and slogans promoting voter awareness. Principal Fr. Cyril Menezes S.J., addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of informed and responsible voting.
