On 21st September 2024, our group visited the General Post Office located in Bengaluru. The visit began with a brief introduction to the history and significance of the post office, highlighting its crucial role in the community. Coordinated by Mr. Murali and Mr. Jayashankar, the tour provided students with insights into the operations and services offered by the post office.
The visit was structured into several sections, each focusing on different postal services such as letter sorting, parcel dispatch, and customer service. Students gained hands-on experience and observed how modern technology is used to ensure efficient postal operations. Throughout the visit, students engaged in discussions and interactions with department heads, enriching their understanding of the postal system.
The primary function of the General Post Office - managing the collection, sorting, and delivery of mail and parcels - was thoroughly appreciated by the students. They also learned about additional services, including money orders, savings accounts, and bill payments. The visit underscored the vital role the post office plays in connecting people and businesses across the region, leaving students with a deeper appreciation for this essential service.
